Gold Choice Barista Café and the organizer of Asian Food Festival 2014 have announced the launch of the 1st Asia's Latte Art and in conjunction with Asian Food Festival, which will be held in SPICE from the 22th – 26th October 2014. In line with Gold Choice’s commitment to providing artisanal coffee solutions to the F&B industry, the championship aims to find Malaysia’s most creative barista and hopefully to promote the aesthetical aspect of serving coffee-based drinks.
Apart from being awarded the prestigious championship title, the winners will also receive a trophy, as well as a RM 5,000 cash prize. Second and third runner-ups will be awarded trophies and cash prizes as well.

Commenting during the launch in Penang in the Deputy Chief Minister’s office, Gold Choice deputy managing director, Nic Ch’ng Jun Qian says: “The growth of the coffee culture in the Northern states has fueled the initiative to take the competition to a different level. Barista challenges have always been about the intrinsic attributions and qualities of coffee bean, but this time, we would like to promote the artistic side and contenders are expected to master the art of milk foaming, pouring on each cup of coffee.”

The launch of the competition has already attracted interest from several renowned judges such as Ross Bright (Master Roaster at Spinelli Coffee.), Daniel Liew, (Academic Director Daniel is currently one of the very few global Authorized SCAE Trainers and Certifiers), Luca Bezzera (owner of Bezzera coffee machines) and Bernard Reincastle (Chief judge of Barista Competition Culinaire 2013). Other industry players coming into the competition are Farm Fresh Milk and Bezzera Italy, as the official coffee machine and grinder sponsor for the competition.
