It’s a well known fact that in Malaysia, your mother or aunties’ cuisines are some of the best you can get; Chef Shaiful started his own career learning from the best, his family. He freely admits he will never be as good as his mum, but she is happy he is 90% of the way there! Building on this solid foundation, he went onto work for various hotels cutting his teeth and learning his trade before becoming personal chef to the prime minister’s mother and cooking for royalty along the way.

He tries to infuse the essence of ‘1Malaysia’ into his dishes, taking inspiration from the length and breadth of Malaysia, from the jungles of Borneo right up to the shores of Penang. The passion he has for pushing the boundaries of Malaysian cuisine onto the international scene, has seen Chef Shaiful demonstrate his talents through cookery exhibitions in distant places such as Europe and other parts of Asia.
